Freedom and Death: Greek pride and history
I seriously enjoyed "Ο Καπετάν Μιχάλης". Finished it yesterday. First time I've read it. Vivid characters.
I am late to this, but I am seeing the line from Ancient Sparta against Persians, then 1821 and later Cretans against Ottomans, Greece's honourable "No" in WW2, Cyprus in 1955-1960 and 1974. Mountain revolution against invasion or oppression.
Nothing has changed in 2,500 years.
And it's not over. Freedom or Death.
